| Revised Development Plans for MedLINK The Capitol Hill Group’s architects will present a new set of plans for the first phase of the condo redevelopment of MedLINK Hospital at a community meeting on November 30 at 7:00 PM at St. James Church, 222 8th Street NE. [see revised plans] The project will also be reviewed at the meeting of the ANC 6C Planning and Zoning Committee on Wednesday, December 7 at 7:00 PM at the NPR building (635 Massachusetts Avenue NW); and the meeting of the full ANC 6C on Wednesday, December 14 at 7:00 PM at the NPR building. In addition, ANC 6C has filed an application to bring the zoning of the entire property in line with that of the surrounding residential neighborhood. The Zoning Commission will hold a hearing on ANC 6C’s rezoning application on Monday, December 12 at 7:00 PM at 441 4th Street NW, Room 220 South. The Capitol Hill Group needs approval from the Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB). The next HPRB hearing on the project will take place on December 15, at a time not yet determined. For more details, please read the article in the November 2005 SPNA newsletter. Development at MedLINK The Capitol Hill Group, which owns MedLINK Hospital, is again developing plans to build up to 300 condo units at the facility. There will be a meeting coordinated by commissioners from ANC6A and 6C at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 featuring a presentation of initial designs by the architect and a public question and answer session. The meeting will be at St. James Episcopal Church, located adjacent to the MedLink site at 222 8th Street NE. The 1928 building at the corner of 8th Street and Constitution Avenue
would be renovated. The 1956 buildings would be demolished and new buildings
would be built in their place. The new designs require approval by the
Historic Preservation Review Board, which may discuss the plans in late
April. MedLINK has proposed providing 1.1 underground parking spaces per residential unit. There would be two entries to underground parking on 7th Street and C Street, with a third entry on 8th Street, and a drop-off court with an entry on Constitution Avenue. If you have comments on the proposal after the meeting, please e-mail your thoughts to spna@stantonpark.org. {March 2005} Related Materials
