Annual Dinner Raises Over $1200 for the SPNA Scholarship Fund
The SPNA Annual Event to benefit the SPNA scholarship fund was held Sunday, March 14 at the H Street Playhouse (1365 H Street NE). Breaking away from the traditional fundraising dinner, this year SPNA reserved the entire seating for the closing performance of “[sic].” After the play, attendees enjoyed a wonderful high tea while bidding on silent auction items and mingling with the cast. A great time was had by all!

The event raised $1250 for the scholarship fund, thanks to the generous donations of area merchants. These donors support our community and the future of the DC high school students who will receive the scholarship money. Please return the favor by supporting them with your business. The total for the fund is now over $5000!

Our sincere thanks goes to the following businesses and individuals:
Bistro Italiano • Capitol City Brewing • H Street Playhouse • Frager’s Hardware • La Brasserie • La Colline • The Monocle • Mr. Henrys • Ms. Robin Phelps • Schneider’s Liquors • Two Quail Restaurant • and the volunteers who made it all happen.

Thank you one and all!

March 2004

2004 Annual SPNA Scholarship Fundraiser at the H Street Playhouse
On Sunday, March 14, join your friends and neighbors for a very different SPNA Annual Scholarship Event! SPNA has reserved the entire seating for the closing performance of “[sic]”—a light-hearted play of three couples living together in an apartment building. The play promises to be yet another acclaimed production at the H Street Playhouse (1365 H Street NE) in the emerging Arts and Entertainment District of H Street Main Street.

SPNA will provide refreshments during the intermission, and host a high tea and cast celebration after the play (all included in the ticket price). In addition, there will be a silent auction of valuable items donated by generous Capitol Hill merchants, available for bidding before the play and during intermission. Winners will be announced at the reception after the play.

As usual, SPNA does not benefit financially from the event: all proceeds after expenses benefit SPNA’s unique scholarship fund. Why is our scholarship program so special? Because SPNA operates this program entirely with volunteer effort: every penny we raise benefits worthy high school seniors for their first year of college. Join us for a great time and a great cause!
